Already quality fruit and vegetable produce is being supplied from the Estate’s 2.5 acre walled garden beside Attyflin House to one or two local restaurants on a pilot basis.
The long-established walled garden is being refurbished and replanted on a phased basis with a wide variety of fruit trees, as well as vegetables. The Walled Garden has been sensitively planted to accommodate wall fruits, soft fruits, a herb garden, a salad garden and a vegetable garden.
Fruits include apples, plums, peaches, cherries and figs as well as loganberries, blackberries, raspberries, black and red currants and blueberries.
In recent years, successful crops of vegetables particularly, potatoes, beetroot, root veg and brassicas including Autumn and Winter kales have been grown.
The herb garden is maturing in its third year with a very wide variety of herbs.
